We’re seeking a Health, Safety, and Quality Advisor to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in ensuring the well-being of our workforce and aligning safety practices with our business objectives.

How this role contributes to Bedford’s future vision

Reporting to the General Manager, this permanent, full-time role is responsible for the development of a culture that promotes the well-being of staff and employees through appropriate work health and safety management, training, and development, whilst ensuring that continuous improvement systems are updated, followed, and maintained.

Key responsibilities


  • Manage objectives and targets in line with the WHS & QA Strategic Plan.
  • Collaborate with the implementation of WHS strategies and plans, aligning them with our WHS Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and deliver safety initiatives to raise awareness and foster a positive work environment focused on safer practices.
  • Monitor and continuously improve departmental safety management systems.
  • Ensure staff and employees adhere to established procedures and systems.
  • Provide professional safety guidance and advice to Managers and Supervisors
  • Manage Internal and External WHS and QA Audit.
  • Drive WHS Risk Management processes, assisting staff as needed
  • Promptly report, review, investigate and act on all incidents, implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence
  • Support line managers to maintain regular contact with the worker during their absence and recovery period.
  • Liaise effectively with staff regarding general WHS QA matters, including coordination of Safety Action Meetings, providing feedback, advice or instruction as required.
  • Collaborate with the Bedford Injury Management & Return to Work Manager regarding all work related and non-work-related injuries to demine the best approach to support their recovery and return to work.


Essential Skills and Qualities

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety, minimum of Cert IV
  • Demonstrated achievement driving WHS /QA performance through effective practice and advice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven demonstrated experience in WHS within an operational environment.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships while working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • A strong understanding of WHS legislation and standards (AS/NZS 4801:2001).
  • An understanding of Environmental Management systems (AS/NZS ISO 14001:2004).
  • An understanding of Quality Management systems (ISO 9001:2015)
  • A strong understanding of safety requirements and legislation.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge in MS Office suite with experience working with databases and online systems.
  • Driver's License
