Tasks & responsibilities

• Identify and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and components. 
• Dismantle, inspect, and repair engine assemblies, transmissions, and steering mechanisms. 
• Replace worn or faulty parts and reassemble mechanical components using service manuals as required. 
• Perform scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups, ensuring vehicle compliance with emissions standards. 
• Reassemble and test engines and components after repair to ensure optimal performance. 
• Adjust and fine-tune mechanical systems for smooth vehicle operation. 
• Use computer-assisted diagnostics to test and troubleshoot vehicle issues. 
• Conduct vehicle inspections and issue roadworthiness certificates or recommend necessary repairs. 
• Respond to breakdown service calls and perform on-site vehicle repairs when needed. 
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

Qualifications & experience

• Trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic (Diploma of Automotive Technology or equivalent). 
• Minimum 1 years of hands-on experience in a similar role. 
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. 
• Experience with wheel balancing, alignments, and suspension repairs. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. 
• Strong communication and customer service skills. 
• Valid driver’s license.
