Trades Assistant - Fabrication

The Company

For the last 30+ years, our client has manufactured purpose built pumping systems designed to their client’s requirements and specifications with a proven reputation of quality, reliability and service, supplying to a wide range of clients in the Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction, Heavy Industry and Utilities industries.

Due to our client expanding their mining and industrial division they are seeking several Grade A Electricians to work at their Canning Vale workshop.

 

The Role

Based in Canning Vale, Staff-Net has an opportunity for a Trades Assistant that have worked in steel fabrication and welding.  Working in a small team of 5 team members, the Trade Assistant main responsibilities include;

• Operating Forklifts - Unloading trucks, moving material around the workshop
• Putting Steel Away into Shelving Using Forklift & Overhead Crane
• Picking Various Types of Steel for Tradesmen from Pick Sheets
• Reading off Shop Drawings & Measuring & Marking Up Steel
• Cutting Steel using a Ban Sawm or Drop Saw
• Bundling Cut Steel & Distributing to Boiler Maker Welders 
• Grinding cut steel for Welding Preparation or Weld Cleanup
• Operation a Bevelling Machine for Pipe Preparation
• Assisting Boiler Maker Welders in day to day activities

 

Assignment Details

The assignment details include;

• Commencing: ASAP Start
• Location: Canning Vale
• Duration: 3 + Months – Possible Temp to Perm
• Working Days: Monday to Friday & Every 2nd Saturday Morning
• Working Hours: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM – Every 2nd Saturday 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM 

 

About the candidates

Our client has specifically requested a candidate that has excellent Attendance and Time Keeping where they attend work every day and are able to work the long hours mentioned above.

We also require candidates that are able to commit to the work assignment duration of 3 months where there is a possibility of the work assignment been extended or going to permanent. 

You will have experience as a Trades Assistant working in a Fabrication Workshop, where you are familiar with moving steel on forklifts or overhead cranes.  You will also be familiar with interpreting shop drawings in order to be able to measure and cut steel using a Ban saw or Drop Saw.

Overall we are seeking experienced Trades Assistant that possess the following skills, tickets and personality traits;

• Has a Current High Risk Forklift Ticket & is experienced in moving steel with a Forklift
• Can Interpret Shop Drawings & Measure & Markup Steel 
• Has experience in cutting Steel using a Ban Saw or Drop Saw
• Is very reliable having excellent Attendance & Punctuality
• Has excellent English Skills & is able to take direction & liaise with team members verbally
• Possess a Positive Attitude

 

Remuneration

Depending on your experience the pay rate will be between;

 

• $34.00 to $38.00 Per Hour 
• + Over Time
• + Super
• Paid Weekly
