Wagon Maintainer

Pacific Rail Engineering is a long established and highly respected service and maintenance provider to freight rail rolling stock operators. The company prides itself for the flexibility and quality of workmanship it delivers to its customers across its extensive suite of services. 

The company is currently seeking to recruit a qualified and energetic Wagon Maintainer to undertake maintenance and repair activities, including mobile repair support to PRE-Customers. Interacting with Maintenance Coordinators and Planners this role will assist in ensuring that wagon maintenance requirements are met through scheduled maintenance, out of course repairs and emergency recoveries within mainline and rail sidings. Based at Moss Vale but working at other sites in keeping with the company mobile operations.  

Key elements of the position are: 

• Undertake examination and inspection of rolling stock including single car air test.
• Inspect and Report on wagon condition. 
• Carry out repairs, component change out, air brake equipment, servicing and customer approved modification to rolling stock.

Qualification and education requirements

• Trade qualification(s) as a Fitter / Machinist.  Experience in mig & stick welding
• Drivers licence.  Current drivers licence in LR, MR or HR will be highly regarded, C6 crane ticket will be advantageous.
•  RISI Card and Pegasus Card qualifications
•  Forklift licence.
   

Work experience & skill requirements

• A minimum 2 years' experience with freight rail rolling stock maintenance. 
• Knowledge of Operating, Maintenance and Safety Rules and Regulations governing the Rail Industry.

Supervisory experience over working teams will be an advantage.
