Earth Moving Discover is seeking a qualified and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to manage the maintenance and repair of our internal fleet of 8 heavy-duty trucks. The role involves diagnosing faults, conducting routine servicing, and performing repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and steering systems to ensure our fleet operates safely and efficiently. In addition to workshop-based responsibilities, the successful candidate will also provide timely roadside assistance to stranded company trucks across the Gold Coast and surrounding areas, ensuring minimal downtime and operational continuity. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a strong work ethic, high level of reliability, and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and compliance standards are essential for success in this role.

Task & responsibilities

Diagnose and repair diesel engines
Maintain earth-moving equipment
Perform engine diagnostics and troubleshooting
Conduct regular maintenance checks
Ensure equipment meets safety standards
Diagnose mechanical and engine faults using diagnostic tools and computer systems
Repair or replace defective and worn components using manufacturer specifications and service manuals
Perform scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, lubrications, and engine tuning to ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance
Maintain records of servicing and repairs, and adhere to safety and environmental standards
Dismantle engines, transmissions, steering components, and related parts to assess wear and damage
Reassemble engines and other systems and test for optimal performance

Qualification & experience

Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Diesel Mechanic)
Proven experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
