Task & Responsibilities
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing Mechanical Issues: Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues with motor vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, suspension, and braking systems.
- Performing Repairs: Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty parts and systems, ensuring all work meets the manufacturer’s specifications and safety standards.
- Routine Maintenance: Carry out regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections to keep vehicles in top condition.
- Testing and Adjustments: Test vehicle systems and components to ensure proper operation, making necessary adjustments to enhance performance.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with customers to explain repair and maintenance needs, providing estimates and obtaining approval for work to be performed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, including parts used and time taken, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Workplace Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others in the workshop.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Keep tools and equipment in good working order, performing regular checks and maintenance as needed.
Qualification & Experience
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a relevant Certificate IV or equivalent in substantial experience (a Cert III and 2 years of experience will suffice, or 3 years of experience for those without a qualification).
Experience Requirement:
- At least 3 years of experience as a motor mechanic.
- A valid driver’s license.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Demonstrated light vehicle repair, service and maintenance skills including a solid understanding of petrol, engines, suspension, transmission, steering and braking systems
- Ability to read and interpret a broad range of vehicles service manuals
- Ability to use computers for the purpose of diagnosing faults and testing vehicle parts
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to prioritise workload to ensure customer and management deadlines are met
- Excellent customer service skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical mechanical issues to a broad audience.
