About the position:
The Fleet Procurement Officer undertakes the end-to-end procurement and disposal of plant and equipment including the development of fleet specifications to meet customer requirements. You will be responsible for the development of councils plant and equipment specifications to meet current and future industry standards. You will be required to develop strong relationships with suppliers and undertake market research to identify new and emerging trends. You will liaise with internal customers to understand and capture operational requirements and needs to ensure procurement of best “fit for purpose” plant and equipment. You will assist with Councils onsite auctions as required.

- This is a permanent full-time position based at the Charlton Depot.
- The annual salary range for this position is $86,949.78 - $92,927.77 gross per annum, plus 17.5%annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

About the Team and Plant:
The Fleet includes light vehicles, prime movers & trailers, heavy earth moving plant and minor equipment.
The Fleet Management section manages the fleet and equipment lifecycle from procurement to disposal including all vehicle, plant and equipment purchases, registration, fuel management, permit requirements, road toll account movements, fleet analysis, technical support on weights and measures, insurance repairs, internal lease arrangements, carpool arrangements and finally the decommissioning and disposal of the asset.
How to be successful in this position:
Qualification(s), training and/or experience, specific to the role:
- Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting or similar, or the ability to obtain, together with a combination of experience and competence to perform all duties of the position.
- Extensive experience/knowledge with plant, equipment and vehicles (preferably in Trucks, earthmoving or road construction equipment) including the development of specifications is desirable.
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
- Current ‘HR’ Driver’s Licence is desirable.
