What’s the role?
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll join a high-performing legal and compliance team to provide support and advice to Plenti business units on legal and compliance issues across a broad range of legal matters, from consumer credit and financial regulatory, to privacy and complaints, to general commercial work. In addition to interesting and challenging work, you’ll get direct access to the General Counsel, senior management and the Executive Team as well as varied experience from day 1.
What will you be responsible for?
Legal and compliance advice: Provide legal and compliance advice to all of Plenti’s business units. Includes responding to ad-hoc requests, drafting policy and procedure documents, preparing responses to borrower, investor and shareholder complaints and disputes, and reviewing promotional and marketing materials.
New products and features: Provide project and product teams with advice and pragmatic solutions taking into account regulatory requirements.
Agreements: Reviewing various types of commercial agreements.
Assisting with company secretary tasks: preparing boards packs and reports for meetings of subsidiary boards and committees, and minute-taking.
Compliance: Investigate and remediate (as required) incidents and breaches, maintain regulatory registers, prepare and present compliance training to the business.
Monitoring of legal & regulatory changes: Research, advise and effect changes necessary to comply with upcoming regulatory changes.
What will make you successful in this role?
Required
- Tertiary qualifications in law and admission to practice in NSW
- 2-8 years’ PQE
- Fast learner with strong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
- An ability to work autonomously as well as engage with others in a team environment
- A capacity to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- A commercial approach to problem solving with stakeholder management skills
Desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of the consumer credit regulatory framework
- Background in banking and financial services law
- Litigation experience
