Following recent business changes, KD will take on the critical role of custodian of the local network over the next decade, with a focus on asset management and maintenance. In the shorter term, KD will continue to focus on the provision of customer experience and security services for the next two years, until 2027.

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused Track Inspector to join our Engineering – Track, Civil & Points function and play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and safety of Adelaide’s metropolitan rail infrastructure.
As a Category 1 Rail Safety Worker, you will perform complex inspections and surveillance activities within the rail corridor to ensure compliance with the Track and Civil Code of Practice. Your technical insight and dedication to public safety will help mitigate risks, identify issues, and provide key recommendations that keep our network running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities -
- Conduct detailed track inspections to identify defects and anomalies in accordance with technical maintenance plans and codes of practice.
- Ensure timely reporting and escalation of immediate safety hazards to the Track Inspection Engineer and Operations Control Centre (OCC).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support the development of future work plans and preventative maintenance strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date inspection records and reports in Maximo.
- Actively contribute to Zero Harm safety initiatives and maintain compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.
- Participate in an established roster cycle (9 days on/5 off, 10 days on/4 off), including on-call responsibilities as required.
About You -
Mandatory Requirements:
- Certificate III in Transport & Logistics (Rail Infrastructure).
- Certificate III in Transport & Logistics (Track Protection).
- Competencies in:
- TLIB2091 – Measure and Record Track Geometry
- TLIB3098 – Examine Track Infrastructure
- TLIB3100 – Visually Inspect Track Infrastructure
- Demonstrated understanding of the Track and Civil Code of Practice.
- Current Class C Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Category 1 Safety Critical Rail Worker health assessment.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment medical.
Desirable Attributes:
- Extensive knowledge of track infrastructure, gained through practical experience.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
- Proficiency in using Maximo or similar asset management systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across technical and operational teams.
